- Lay the backplate on a flat surface
- Holding down the backplate with one palm, use your the hand to swing the arm back and forth 2-3 times

Q: I just received this lamp. How can I fully extend the arms? Neither one of the first pivot joints is operational?
A: We suggest loosening the joints prior to installation. Lay the backplate on a flat surface and hold it down with one palm. Swing the joints of the arm back and forth 2-3 times to allow smoother operation.
